Truck Dispatcher:how the job works
A dispatcher is the person who runs the commercial side of a truck: finds loads, agrees rates and manages the trip from pickup to delivery. Here is the profession without the gloss.

02From the inside
What a dispatcher'sday is made of
It is work with people and numbers in real time. It is never boring; it can be chaotic if you have no system. The system is what we teach.

You check where the trucks are and how the current trips are going. You look at the load boards: what has appeared on the routes you need.

Calls and emails to brokers: you clarify details, negotiate the rate, book loads. You handle the rate confirmation.

You run the trip: contact with the driver, pickup and delivery statuses, handling what comes up — a delay, a breakdown, a changed address.

You close the paperwork for the trip: BOL, invoice. You plan the next load so the truck does not sit empty.
03The skill that decides
The rate is set by the call, not by the board.
Dozens of dispatchers see the same load at the same moment. What separates them is how the call to the broker is built: what to ask, when to stay quiet, how to justify the price. We practise it on real scenarios.
The figures are a teaching example of a per-trip rate, not an income promise.
04Two directions
Car haulers or general freight?Both roads are good.
The profession is one — dispatcher. What differs is what the truck carries and where the load comes from. The practice is the same in both, so choose what interests you more.
